Download pi-gna

For Apple silicon and Intel Macs. Version 0.9.0, released 8 October 2026. It needs pi 1.0.0 or newer.

Pigna popping out of a cardboard box

Three ways in.

  1. 1

    Let pi do it

Paste this into pi, or any coding agent. It checks pi, downloads the right build, installs it and adds the --pigna flag.

Install pi-gna for me by following the "For agents" steps in https://github.com/manuelcecchetto/pi-gna
  2. 2

    Download the app

Open the disk image and drag pi-gna to Applications.

  3. 3

    Add pi --pigna

Then pi --pigna in any project opens pi-gna right there, with the terminal as its log.

    pi install git:github.com/manuelcecchetto/pi-gna

“Apple could not verify pi-gna…”

Builds are not notarized: there is no paid Apple certificate behind this project. The first time you open a downloaded copy, macOS blocks it. Click Open Anyway in System Settings › Privacy & Security, or run:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/pi-gna.app

You’ll need

  • A Mac, Apple silicon or Intel.
  • pi 1.0.0 or newer, run once and signed in to a model provider. No pi yet? npm install -g @earendil-works/pi-coding-agent
  • ripgrep (rg), for @ file mentions.

Updates

  • pi-gna checks GitHub for a new release when it starts and every few hours.
  • A row at the foot of the sidebar shows the release notes; Update installs it when you quit, or right away with Restart now.
  • pi update updates the --pigna flag.

Windows and source

  • A Windows x64 beta is published now and then as a GitHub prerelease. Computer Use and in-app updates are macOS only.
  • Build it yourself with Node 24 and pnpm 10: see the README.
